Bromley 0-2 Welling United

Bromley fluffed their lines on ‘Non-League Day’ in front of a bumper crowd at Hayes Lane as they were comprehensively outclassed by their local rivals.

After an open start Richard Pacquette had a good chance saved by Sam Mott, before Welling went on to dominate the play for a long spell, Ross Lafayette, Theo Fairweather-Johnson and Kiernan Hughes-Mason all went close before the inevitable goal came on 34 minutes.

Joe Healy’s run and cross setting up Fairweather-Johnson for an easy tap in from close range.

Bromley rallied late in the half with Michael Malcolm having a goal ruled out for offside, but they offered very little going forward and seemed baffled by their formation and tactics.

The second half saw The Wings get off to the perfect start when Lee Clarke converted a low free kick from six yards past a static home defence.

Bromley finally found some form around the hour mark with Moses Swaibu having an effort apparently handled on the line only for the appeals to be waved away and Pacquette hitting the bar from the rebound.

The former QPR man went close again soon after before The Ravens lost their momentum.

Late on the game opened up with Fairweather-Johnson and Scott Kinch just off target with headers for the visitors and debutant Ian Daly heading wide when well placed for Mark Goldberg’s dis-jointed side.
